Today I was talking to my sister and was comparing how we saw the world when our children were born. Uppermost in our minds was the idea that having children precluded anything else in this world. To me a career did not matter more than my children, a home did not matter more than my children, money did not matter more than my children and I found ways to feed and clothe us all despite the fact that were were living below the poverty level. The reality of it all is that the temporal things of this life will come and go. One can be very rich one moment and the next be very poor. One thing that I will never regret is the fact that I gave birth to five wonderful people who I love more than life itself. Children are the greatest riches that one can gain in this life. The things of this world come and go and are of little worth compared to the wonderful blessing that I have had to know my children. I remember a talk in General Conference in which a woman talked about her pearls, which were her children. I feel the same way in that my children are better than jewels, vacations, or luxuries in this life. I'm grateful also that I have a great husband to go along with it. I was thinking today how blessed I have been to have him in my life.
Motherhood is the greatest thing a woman can do in this life. Maurine reminded me of this today when she made a comment on Facebook of how she had dinner with her wonderful son. Her comment shows how much she loves him. I love my children greatly also and find that I am proud of each and every one of them. I want them to know how much I love them.
